Stacking headers

Some HiFiBerry users asked how to connect other devices to the Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry DAC installed. An easy solution are stacking headers. It took us some time to find a supplier for these headers, but finally we got a few. A HiFiBerry DAC with the stacking header instead of the normal 26-pin connector looks like this:

The headers are now available in our HiFiBerry shop.

I bought one of these stacking headers with my DAC, and I am disappointed. The pins are thinner than the pins on the Pi, and therefore none of my jumper wires make a good connection.

      Hi Elliott,

thanks for the feedback. We haven’t tested it with jumper wires yet. What kind of jumper wires do you use?

      Best regards

        Jumper wires: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2117106_-1
I am also making my own small headers with this: http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?x=-970&y=-74&lang=en&site=us&KeyWords=M20-1180042
And I’ve tried the jumpers that came with my Mausbery circuit: http://mausberry-circuits.myshopify.com/products/shutdown-circuit-use-your-own-switch
All of these products fit on the Pi’s GPIO pins, but they are too loose on yours.

          Hi,

I tested it with some cheap eBay jumper wires I have here. They are really relatively loose. However when I turn these by 90 degree, they work well. Can you test this?
Unfortunately we don’t have another supplier for these headers.

Yes I found that to be the case, so I think it will work. Looking closely, I see that the header pins are not square, they’re thinner in one dimension.
